I wanted to surprise my sweetie for Valentines Day, so I chose one of his favorite desserts, Red Velvet Cake with Cream Cheese Icing. I’ve made this cake so many times as a cake, but this time I wanted cupcakes. I hand piped the chocolate hearts that are on top. This is done by heating semi sweet chocolate in the microwave, filling a pastry bag (you can use a zip lock bag), cutting off the tip and just pipe a heart. I piped 2 doz. hearts, put them in the refrigerator to harden. After I frosted the cupcake, I placed the heart on top.
